- 2026 Lakeshore Wheelchair Tennis Classic (October 23-25, 2026): The second annual Lakeshore Wheelchair Tennis Classic returns to the Lakeshore courts in October. This tournament is a United States Tennis Association (USTA) sanctioned Level 3 wheelchair tennis open event. Athletes who wish to compete must register by October 9 at 11:59 p.m. CDT. The Lakeshore Wheelchair Tennis Classic is free and open to public spectators.
2026 Tournament Series
- Birmingham 2026 World Boccia Challenger (June 17–22, 2026): International boccia made its return to the United States June 17-23 at the Birmingham 2026 World Boccia Challenger! Eleven countries were represented in the first international boccia competition on U.S. soil since 2017, hosted right here at Lakeshore.
- 2026 USWRA National Championships (April 9-12, 2026): Lakeshore hosted the 2026 USWRA National Championships. 18 wheelchair rugby teams from across the nation competed in the DI, DII & DIII National Championships. Click here to view the results.
- Lakeshore Para Swim Open Series Meet (March 7-8, 2026): Lakeshore hosted a Para Swim Open Series at the Birmingham Crossplex in March. This was Lakeshore’s first swim meet in over 10 years.
- NWBA SEC Junior Division Championship (February 21-22, 2026): The top 22 Prep and Varsity Division wheelchair basketball teams from across the southeast competed for the Southeastern Junior Division Championship in the final conference tournament before NWBA Nationals.
- Tip Off Club Classic (January 16-18, 2026): Formerly Pioneer Classic, 21 teams from around the country representing NWBA Collegiate, DI, DII, DIII and Women’s divisions, including Lakeshore’s very own Lightning and Storm, competed over two days.
2025 Tournament Series
- 2025 Power Soccer Slam in the Ham (December 13-14, 2025): Six adult and youth power soccer teams from around the southeast competed in 14 games over the course of two days.
- 2025 Lakeshore Wheelchair Tennis Classic (October 24-26, 2025): The inaugural Lakeshore Wheelchair Tennis Classic, a USTA-sanctioned Level 3 wheelchair tennis open event.
- USA Boccia National Championships (July 30 – August 3, 2025): Lakeshore hosted the 10th Anniversary of the USA Boccia National Championships, where teams from all over the country competed for the title of National Champions.
- NWBA SEC Junior Division Championship (March 1-2, 2025): Top Prep and Varsity Division wheelchair basketball teams (including our own Sharks and Lakers) from eight states across the southeast competed for the Southeastern Junior Division Championship in the final conference tournament before NWBA Nationals.
- 2025 Demolition Derby (January 31 – February 2, 2025): Close to a dozen U.S. Wheelchair Rugby Association (USWRA) teams, including the Lakeshore Demolition, faced off over a weekend of action-packed matches midway through the season.
- 37th Pioneer Classic (January 17-19, 2025): Top NWBA DII, DIII, Women’s and Junior Division wheelchair basketball teams competed over three days. The Lakeshore Storm, Lightning and Sharks took to the courts for their first home tournament of the season.
