Welcome Children’s at Lakeshore

Lakeshore Foundation believes every child has the right and ability to run, swim and play. We are proud to announce an exciting partnership with Children’s of Alabama that will bridge the gap between Children’s pediatric clinical and therapy services and Lakeshore’s youth aquatics, athletics, fitness and recreation programs. This collaboration between healthcare and community based programming creates a unique commitment designed to empower each child to achieve his or her highest level of success.

The new facility, called Children’s at Lakeshore, offers physician care by the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine and therapy services by Children’s of Alabama’s Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology staff members. These services are just steps away from wheelchair basketball practice and after-school recreation classes in Lakeshore’s Fieldhouse and swim lessons and teen swim club in the Aquatics Center.

“Lakeshore Foundation and Children’s of Alabama have enjoyed a successful partnership for many years. We are excited to welcome Children’s to our campus,” said Lakeshore President Jeff Underwood. “We are looking forward to expanding our collaboration and strengthening our relationship with Children’s so that more parents and their children with physical disabilities can learn about opportunities available to them at Lakeshore.”

This partnership brings a dynamic opportunity for children with a physical disability or chronic health condition to pursue a healthy, active and independent lifestyle. Click here to learn more about Children’s at Lakeshore.
