Lakeshore Athletes Start Strong in Rio

josh-robertsDay two at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games brought another big margin of victory for U.S. Men’s Wheelchair  Basketball. Alabama native Brian Bell contributed 15 in the win over Germany. Next up for the men is Iran on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. CT. The U.S. Women’s Wheelchair basketball team will take on rival China at 4 p.m. CT. Morris native, Josh Roberts hit the track for his first event today, the Men’s T52 100 M.  Roberts’ 18.41 qualified him for a spot in Saturday’s final at 8:45 a.m. CT. In goalball action, the women were set to face Algeria today who forfeited the match. The women will be back on the court Sunday against Japan at 8:15 a.m. CT. 

Looking ahead to other weekend action, cyclist Jennifer Schuble will be back in the velodrome in Rio on Saturday in the women’s C4-5 500m time trial at 3:45 p.m. CT, and Kerri Morgan will be on the track at Maracana Stadium for the final in the women’s T52 400M at 9:04 a.m. CT. Emily Frederick will make her Paralympic debut Sunday in the women’s F40 shot put event at 4:20 p.m. CT. You can watch all of the action at teamusa.org.
