About Lima Foxtrot Military Programs

Lakeshore’s Lima Foxtrot programs for injured military began as a response to the significant number of men and women acquiring injuries from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Since 2006, Lakeshore has served over 2,800 injured servicemen and women and their families from 46 states, DC and Puerto Rico. Through Lima Foxtrot, active-duty personnel and veterans use lessons from sport and recreation to learn how to pursue an active, healthy lifestyle. Lima Foxtrot offers a free membership to local military servicemen and women (and household family members) who have a service-connected physical disability or illness as well as annual extended weekend sport and recreation camps for injured military from across the country.

Lima Foxtrot Camps

Camp dates are currently TBD

Operation Refocus is an annual extended weekend camp for military servicewomen from across the country who have sustained spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, vision impairments, amputations, burns and/or disfigurements while serving our country. As a female-only camp, we create a comfortable environment to address needs that are specific to women with activities that focus on the mind, body and spirit.

Operation Rise and Conquer is an annual extended outdoor adventure weekend for servicemen and women from across the country who have sustained a significant injury or vision loss. The weekend begins at Lakeshore and moves on to Lake Martin, located near Alexander City, Alabama, for a variety of challenging outdoor recreation activities. Qualifying injuries included but not limited to spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, vision impairments, amputations, burns, and/or disfigurements. Participants are welcome to bring a guest.

The Cottages of Lakeshore

The Cottages of Lakeshore provide housing with a private, home-like atmosphere for out-of-town severely injured military participating in Operation Lima Foxtrot programs. However, the real benefit for these service members is being able to bring their entire family with them to share in their experience of regaining a healthy, active and independent lifestyle.

The Cottages, initiated by Capstone Companies, was built by its in-house construction company, Cottage Builders, and architectural partner Dungan Nequette along with sub-contractors and numerous partnering companies. The $2.3 million project became a reality through Operation Lakeshore, a 30-month fundraising initiative that involved 200 partnering companies, tremendous community support and hundreds of individual donors. The Cottages have LEED and Energy Star certifications.
