Who’s competing?

Canada, the originators of wheelchair rugby, have a hallowed history in the sport, consistently making the podium for two decades. While the past two Paralympic cycles have seen a downturn for the nation, Team Canada is reinvigorated with new talent and aiming to once again crack into the top four of the world rankings. Coming off solid silver-medal winning performances at the Americas Championship and Canada Cup, the team is gaining momentum as they enter Tri Nations.

Great Britain is a team that has always been on the rise, and last summer they reached top, winning gold at the Tokyo Paralympics. The start of the 2022 season saw retirements from key players and an influx of new talent. After a second place finish at European Championships and fourth at Canada Cup, Team GB sits in second place in the world rankings. They will be looking to keep that spot with a successful Tri Nations performance.

United States of America is the most successful wheelchair rugby program in Paralympic history, medalling at every Games since the sport’s debut. But Paralympic and world championship gold have eluded the team since 2010. The 2022 roster is a mix of new talent and veteran leadership who had a solid showing and captured gold at the Americas Championship in March. After missing out on Canada Cup, the team is excited to get back on their home court, compete and see where they stack up halfway through the season.
