2020 Demolition Derby

Six of the top wheelchair rugby teams from across the South will battle at the 23rd edition of Demolition Derby January 31 – February 2. All games are free and open to the public. Day Two at the 2020 Demolition Derby Wheelchair Rugby Tournament did not disappoint with plenty of smashing hits to go around. Saturday’s action was much the same as Friday with the Texas Stampede dominating on the courts. Texas went undefeated for a second straight day by beating Shepherd and Tampa. TIRR and Lakeshore had a pretty good day on the court, but not enough wins to put either of them in the Championship Game. On Sunday it will be the Texas Stampede (5-0) battling Tampa(4-1) for first place. The third place game will feature Lakeshore against the TIRR Texans, and the fifth place game pits Shepherd versus Cumberland.

Championship Sunday at the Demolition Derby 2020 did not disappoint. In morning play, the Shepherd Stealers outscored the Cumberland Quadcrushers  42-35, while the TIRR Texans beat the Lakeshore Demolition 58-39 to capture third place in the tournament.

In a hard-fought championship game, the undefeated Texas Stampede won 51-46 against the Tampa Generals to place first.

Day One of Demolition Derby 2020 was filled with dominant wins and a key upset. Leading the way was the Texas Stampede who finished the day 3-0. Also finishing the day with an undefeated record were the Tampa Generals who knocked off the number two seeded TIRR Texans 50-47 in a midday upset. The Lakeshore Demolition had a solid day and finished in the middle of the pack with a 2-1 record. The Shepherd Smash and Cumberland Quadcrushers will be looking to improve upon their 0-3 records and secure a victory on day two.

  • Lost and Found is located at the concession stand.
  • Tobacco products, vaping and alcohol use is prohibited on Lakeshore’s campus.
  • Only service animals are permitted in the facility.
