Mark your calendar for the 22nd edition of Lakeshore’s Demolition Derby Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, February 1-3. Top wheelchair rugby teams from across the country will compete for the 2019 title. All games are free and open to the public. Invite your friends, bring your family and cheer on the teams!

The 22nd edition of Lakeshore’s Demolition Derby Wheelchair Rugby Tournament is officially underway, and opening day of competition did not disappoint. All eight teams hit the court in the hopes of clinching the 2019 tournament title. Today saw strong performances from top seeded teams as well as a few surprising upsets.

After one day of action, all of the teams are chasing down the home team, Lakeshore Demolition, and top seed Texas Stampede. Both of whom ended the day 2-0. It was a tough start to the tournament for the MedStar Punishers and Canada Lumberjacks, who went 0-2 for the day. The remaining teams broke even with a 1-1 record and look to make a comeback on day two.

Day two of Demolition Derby 2019 began with the final pool play games and transitioned into competitive crossover matchups in the afternoon. In the first set of crossover games between the number three and four seeded teams, the Ottawa Stingers beat their Canadian rivals the Lumberjacks to advance to tomorrow’s fifth place game. They will take on the MedStar Punishers who defeated the Cumberland Quadcrushers. The Lakeshore Demolition and Texas Stampede entered their afternoon games as the number one seeds from their respective pools. They continued their strong team play and cruised to victories against TIRR Texans and Tampa Generals, who will match up for third. To cap off a competitive weekend of wheelchair rugby Lakeshore’s Demolition and the Texas Stampede will battle for the Demo Derby title.

The final day of the 2019 Demolition Derby did not disappoint with tightly contested games across the board.  The Texas Stampede were crowned the 2019 Derby Champions with Lakeshore taking second and the Tampa Generals capturing third.

  • Please do not use tobacco products or vape while on Lakeshore’s campus. Alcohol use is also prohibited.
  • Pets are not allowed in the facility. Service animals are permitted.
  • The concession stand is located by court one and is cash-only.
  • Lost & Found is located at the concession stand.
  • Accessible locker rooms are located on the south side of the Fieldhouse, on the opposite side from the main Fieldhouse entrance. Locks for the lockers are not provided and must be removed at the end of the day.
  • Games highlighted in red will be livestreamed on Lakeshore’s YouTube channel.
  • Daily tournament updates will be provided on Lakeshore’s website and social media. You can also sign up to receive updates through our e-newsletter.
