Aquatics and Athletics Registration
Summer Camps
Camp Strive – Ages 4 to 19
June 16-18 or August 4-6
Cost: $50/family
Registration has closed for Camp Strive.
Priority given to first-time participants.
This family overnight camp offers a weekend of outdoor activities including swimming, adapted water skiing, tubing, fishing and kayaking. Camp is held at Children’s Harbor in Lake Martin, AL.
Inclusion Camp – Ages 6-18
June 26-29 (9 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily)
Cost: $40 (members); $80 (non-members)
Each qualifying camper may bring a friend or sibling(s) within the same age range.
This recreation day camp will include fun recreational games, activities, and possible fieldtrip to a local venue. Camp will end with our annual 1K fun run/walk/push for campers and parents!
Aquatics
Youth One-on-one Services – Age 3 to 18
Private Swim Lessons and Personal Training:
$30/half hour; 6 sessions for $162; 12 sessions for $300
Wet Tots – Age 6 months to 3 years
Mondays & Wednesdays, 9:30-10:15 a.m.
A parent/child class focusing on strength, flexibility and fine and gross motor skills. Advancement to further programs is subject to participant skill level and instructor recommendation.
*Learn to Swim – Age 3 to 12
Mondays, 3-3:45 p.m.
Thursdays, 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Based on the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program, this class focuses on basic water safety skills as well as developing the fundamentals of swimming in a fun environment.
Tadpoles – Age 3 to 12
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10-10:45 a.m.
Focuses on functional skills, balance, body awareness, movement and socialization in an aquatic environment. Tadpoles is designed to promote independence and expose participants to a variety of activities in which they can continue to do independently. Participants will wear a cervical flotation device. A parent/guardian may be required to participate in the class.
ACES (Active Children Exercise & Swim) – Age 4 to 18
Mondays, 3:45-4:30 p.m.
Thursdays, 11-11:45 a.m.
This program provides the opportunity to work on functional skills, balance, body awareness and other fundamental movement patterns in an aquatic environment. A small group setting provides opportunities for socialization and functional play.
*Advanced Swim – Age 6 to 18
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10-10:45 a.m.
Based on the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program, this class focuses on basic water safety skills, as well as stroke refinement, speed and endurance.
*Age appropriate sibling(s) are welcome.
Athletics
All practices begin April 3.
Lakeshore competitive athletics is for youth with a physical disability and/or visual impairment. Athletes have the option to compete at local, regional and national events. No previous athletic experience is required. Lakeshore can provide adapted equipment for competition.

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5-7 p.m. (April – July)
Archery – Age 6 to 22
Mondays & Wednesdays, TBD (April – July)
Swim Team – Age 6 to 18
Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 4-6 p.m.
Tuesdays: 3-5 p.m. at the Birmingham Crossplex
Year round or seasonal
Inclusive league for youth with a physical disability and/or visual impairment, as well as siblings without a disability.

Lakeshore and the City of Hoover are proud to host 2023 The Hartford Nationals, the nation’s largest multi-sport event for athletes with a physical disability and/or visual disability.
