Lakeshore Life presents Spring Training

Before summer begins, it’s time for a little Spring Training. Lakeshore Life is serving up a three-part program to get you ready for our summer health promotion, Summer League. Follow these steps to complete your Spring Training. Members who complete all three steps will be entered to win a Fitbit.

Step 1: Complete a health assessment.

Friday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fieldhouse

The health assessment will be a great tool to determine your current fitness level and identify future health and fitness goals. It will take one hour and will be performed by Lakeshore fitness and research staff along with second-year physical therapy students from Samford University. No appointment is necessary. After the health assessment, you will sign-up for a time to review your results. The health assessment will measure:

  • Resting heart rate and blood pressure
  • Height, weight, hip and waist measurements
  • Agility and balance
  • Muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance

Step 2: Review your results.

Attend one of the results sessions listed below to learn ways to improve your current fitness plan and set health goals. After the results session is finished, schedule an appointment with a fitness or aquatics specialist to update your fitness plan.

All sessions will take place in the Wet Classroom on the following dates:

  • Monday, April 23, 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.
  • Tuesday, April 24, 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 25, 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

Step 3: Take the Makeover May challenge.

Meet with a fitness or aquatics specialist to update your fitness plan and Makeover May with your fresh, new routine. Appointments are first come, first serve and will last one hour. No makeup or reschedule dates.

Updated fitness plans focus on cardiovascular endurance, strength, balance and flexibility guidelines set forth by the American College of Sports Medicine. The fitness plans include but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing different exercise equipment
  • Cardiovascular programming for aquatics and/or fitness
  • Stretching and balance activities

*Members must participate in all three steps of Spring Training to be eligible to win the Fitbit. The drawing will be Friday, June 1.
