Class Descriptions
Adult Swim Team - Class emphasizes stroke technique and endurance. Participants swim 800+ yards in each class, and learn all four competitive strokes and flip turns. (Intermediate to Advanced) AquaFit - A total body workout! Forty-five minutes of shallow water aerobic and strengthening exercise followed with 15 minutes of deep water work. (Intermediate to Advanced) Aqua Range of Motion - Our most gentle aquatic exercise program. This shallow class focuses on each joint of the body and moves you through a full range of movement. Appropriate for individuals with joint and orthopedic conditions, including arthritis. (Beginner level) Deep Water Sweat - A workout completely in the deep water. Members wear flotation belts or go without for a more intense workout. The class includes a warm-up, a cardiovascular plus abdominals workout and a cool down. Participants must be comfortable and independent in the deep water. (Intermediate to Advanced) Healthy Backs & Core - A great combination, 30 minutes of shallow and 30 minutes of deep water training with low to zero impact. Exercises are selected for reducing back pain, while increasing core strength, a complete workout with emphasis on balance and posture alignment. (Beginner to Intermediate) Hydro Healing - Appropriate for individuals with joint and orthopedic conditions, including arthritis. A series of specially designed exercises that focuses on increasing flexibility, balance, and strength as well as gentle aerobic conditioning. Participants must be able to walk independently in the water. (Beginner to Intermediate) Hydro Power - Thirty minutes deep and 15 minutes shallow water training designed to improve muscular strength and endurance, cardiovascular endurance as well as core strengthening. A flotation device is provided for deep water work. Participants must be comfortable and independent in the deep water. (Intermediate to Advanced) MS Aquatics - Designed specifically for persons with MS, but also beneficial for improving balance and gently overall conditioning. Forty-five mintues of shallow water exercise including a warm-up, gait exercises, balancing & strengthening movements with equipment. Fifteen minutes of deep water exercise focused on flexibility and stretching. (Beginner to Intermediate) Parkinson's Aqua Class - A shallow water class designed for persons with symptoms of Parkinson's disease. The class is open to all members who want to improve posture, strength and balance. The class also includes breathing, facial and flexibility exercises. (Beginner to Intermediate) Shallow H20 Exercise - A shallow water total body workout. Designed to improve range of movement, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and balance. (Beginner to Intermediate)
Wind Down with Water - Designed to help you relax after a long day. The focus is on stretching the body, improving core muscles and learning relaxation techniques. Open to all ability levels. (Beginner to Intermediate) Balance & Beyond - Improve your balance and mobility through core strengthening, muscular balance and postural alignment. Participants must be able to sit on the stability ball independently. Class size is limited and advanced registration is required. (Intermediate to Advanced) Group exercise studio.
Basics of Balance - A 30 minute introduction to the principles of balance training. Exercises focus on improving awareness of body position and postural alignment, as well as muscle strengthening. Class size is limited and advance registration is required. (Beginner) Group exercise studio Expression through Movement - A revitalizing movement class that pulls inspiration from the martial arts, dance, yoga, Pilates, Lebed, Feldenkrais and Alexander techniques, improvisation, free-dance, sounding and the world of theatre. This class can be done standing or sitting and is open to all levels of fitness. Class size is limited and advanced registration is required. Group exercise studio. New Forest T'ai Chi - Uses slow, gentle movements that are easy to learn and allow for creative, personal expression. Simple, slow motion stepping patterns are combined with arm movements. The initial exercises and routines are very simple, but become more complex as the learner gains strength, balance, and mental focus. Learners of all ages and abilities are appropriately challenged by the physical activities of New Forest T'ai Chi. (All levels of fitness) Group exercise studio
SilverSneakers Cardio Circuit - Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching, and relaxation exercises (Intermediate) Group exercise studio. Walk and Roll - An integrated walking program for individuals who walk independently, use an assistive device or wheelchair for mobility. A fitness specialist facilitates the class instructing on and encouraging appropriate posture, pace and gait. Participants log their progress into a program binder. (All levels of fitness) Fieldhouse YogaFLOW - Befriend your body with this introductory yoga class and tone muscles you never knew you had with light to moderately intense range of movement. Explore and adapt traditional yoga positions progressing at your pace. Class includes restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation.
