Lakeshore Foundation Takes First Place at National Junior Disability Championships

Following a full week of competition, Lakeshore Foundation finished first in the large team division at the National Junior Disability Championships in Chicago. Fifteen Lakeshore Foundation athletes participated in The Championships which were hosted by Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association. Birmingham-area athletes Dylan Wilson and Katie Schewanick received the Spirit of Excellence awards; Wilson for male field athlete and Schewanick for female penthalon.

The Championships provide 300-plus 7 to 21 year olds with physical disabilities an opportunity to compete for medals in seven different athletic events. Athletic events include 3-on-3 basketball, archery, track & field, pentathlon, weightlifting, swimming, and tennis.
