The programs and services provided at Lakeshore Foundation are critical to helping those with physical disabilities and chronic health conditions live their lives to the fullest extent possible. Lakeshore Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We depend on your support.
Lakeshore Foundation recently launched its Injured Military Initiative, helping servicemen and women injured in Iraq and Afghanistan return to living healthy, active, independent lives. The initiative is a multi-faceted undertaking that includes Lima Foxtrot programs for injured military, community involvement and a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign. Join Lakeshore Foundation in serving our nation's heroes by contributing your time, money and talents. Help support the Injured Military Initiative, and give these heroes the tools they need for fulfilling lives.
Lakeshore Foundation recently established the Ability
Fund to provide financial assistance to young people with physical disabilities,
ages 1-25 years old. It is the goal of
this fund to help these individuals achieve their potential through physical
activity, recreation, and sport. Ability Fund recipients are eligible to receive money
that can provide for sports equipment, recreation adaptations,
academic/athletic scholarships, or participation at selected camps,
competitions, or events. Thanks to the Ability Fund, six year-old Mary Elizabeth can now ride a bike, just like her twin sister Anna Louise. Your support can help children like Mary Elizabeth live a healthy, active, independent life.
Meredith grew up in Lakeshore Foundation’s youth
wheelchair basketball program. Now
she’s off to the University of Alabama to get her college education and play
for the Crimson Tide’s women’s wheelchair basketball team. Lakeshore’s Academic/Athletic Scholarship
Fund is helping kids like Meredith achieve their goals on and off the
court. Your support can help student-athletes like Meredith reach their greatest potential in sport and in life.
Physical activity is critical to the development of all children, yet even more so for children with physical disabilities. Yet, access to fitness, sport and recreation programs is often extremely limited for these children. Lakeshore Foundation's Youth Programs create opportunities for youth with physical disabilities not only to be more physically active, but also to grow their self-esteem and become more independent and self-sufficient. “I am a bilateral above-the-knee amputee. I water ski, snow ski, surf, swim and
run. I love the people here, the
facilities and the friends I make here," says 14 year-old Roderick. Your support can help youth like Roderick have access to sports and recreation programs they so desperately need.
